Ukraine is winner of latest Brussels plan, while European people are losers

Ukraine is the winner of the latest Brussels plan because the European Commission has allocated an enormous amount of money to them, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a video posted on Facebook on Wednesday.

Mr Orbán said in Brussels “the heat is on, the storm has broken out” because the European Commission’s new proposed budget – that took everyone by surprise – has been leaked. “The situation is dramatic,” the Prime Minister said, adding that Ukraine is the winner of the latest Brussels plan, while the European people are the greatest losers of the proposal.

“Among them, farmers may find themselves in an extremely difficult situation because Hungarian farmers, together with their European counterparts, would have access to far less funding in the future,” the Prime Minister said.

Mr Orbán stressed that the government would therefore look into this issue as the number one item on the agenda of the cabinet meeting due to be held on Wednesday. “The Minister of Agriculture will present his report and will make proposals, while I’ll be in touch again shortly.”
