The Hanukkah candles lit on the darkest days of the year remind us that not even the longest night can last forever, and even the most difficult periods come to an end, Mr Orbán wrote, adding that this message is especially important now when throughout Europe anti-Semitism is on the rise, in consequence of which innocent people are attacked due to their origin and faith. “It is a heart-warming feeling that even in these difficult times, Hungary is an island of peace in the world where all our Jewish compatriots can live and celebrate in security,” the Prime Minister wrote.
“Please allow me as prime minister of Hungary to cordially greet you on the occasion of the Festival of Lights. May the miracle of Hanukkah bring with it much-coveted peace for us all,” Mr Orbán concluded his festive message which was sent to the leaders of Jewish organisations in Hungary also this year.
