Flood in Italy – Hungarian nation stands by Italy in these tragic days

Budapest, Saturday, 20 May 2023 (MTI) – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote a letter to his Italian peer Giorgia Meloni on Saturday concerning the floods that have ravaged North Italy for days, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s Chief Press Officer told the national news agency MTI. The floods have claimed several lives and destroyed the homes of several ten thousand people.

Viktor Orbán expressed his sympathy for the victims’ relatives, and wished speedy recovery to those injured in the disaster.

In his letter, Mr Orbán assured Italy’s Prime Minister that the Hungarian nation stands by Italy in these tragic days as well. Further, he offered help in the immense efforts at finding lost people and mitigating the damage caused by the floods, Mr. Havasi said.
