President Zelenskyy, Stop threatening and blackmailing us. With Hungarians this will not work, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote on Facebook in conjunction with a video he posted on Saturday.
In the video, the Ukrainian president is quoted, saying ‘We hope that one specific person in the European Union will not block the 90 billion euros, or at least the first tranche of the 90 billion, so that Ukrainian soldiers will have weapons. Otherwise we will give the address of that person to our armed forces, to our guys, and let them call him and speak with him in their own language.’
Responding to this, Mr Orbán said, “Mr President, I received your message. You threatened me with soldiers and through me the whole of Hungary.”
“Mr President, this will not work. Stop it. This is Hungary. Hungarians cannot be blackmailed, and you cannot threaten me,” the Prime Minister stated.
Mr Orbán stressed: “Last night the Hungarian people sent a message: They do not want a pro-Ukraine government and they do not want a pro-Ukraine prime minister in Hungary.”
“Peace is better. Stop the blackmail and the threats, end the oil blockade, and allow Hungary’s oil shipments to pass through. Instead of threats and blackmail, give the Hungarian people the respect they deserve,” the Prime Minister said in conclusion.
