Campaign or no campaign, the Ukrainian oil blockade overrides everything

Campaign or no campaign, the Ukrainian oil blockade overrides everything today. In the past few days, the Hungarian government has focused all its efforts on handling the situation President Zelenskyy caused by having shut off the Druzhba crude oil pipeline, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote on Facebook on Monday.

Mr Orbán posted: The government has succeeded in protecting Hungary’s fuel supply and has given President Zelenskyy firm and proportionate answers. “He must know that he can only lose by attacking Hungary,” he added.

In continuation, he wrote that while Hungary’s energy security overrides all party considerations, the opposition with Tisza taking the lead is shamefully silent on this matter. Evidently because instead of a patriotic government, in harmony with Brussels and Kiev, they want to see a pro-Ukraine government in power in Hungary. This is why they do not stand up for the best interests of the Hungarian people and Hungary, he pointed out.

“Without Russian oil and gas, the price of petrol would be 1,000 forints, while the energy bills of households would increase three- to four-fold. This is what the Ukrainians are blackmailing us with, and Tisza is assisting them with this. Only Fidesz is the safe choice,” Mr Orbán wrote.
