Prime Minister Viktor Orbán published Donald Trump’s invitation to Gaza Board of Peace

On Saturday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán posted on Facebook a letter in which US President Donald Trump invited Hungary to the Gaza Board of Peace. The Prime Minister confirmed that he had accepted the invitation.

In his letter, the US President described the effort to solidify peace as critically historic and magnificent, and wrote that with this a bold new approach to resolving global conflict will unfold.

Mr Trump recalled that at the end of September he announced his Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict which was quickly embraced by all world leaders, including major heads of state across the Arab World, Israel, and Europe. Then in November, the plan was also welcomed and endorsed by the United Nations Security Council.

“Now it is time to turn all of these dreams into reality,” the US President wrote. “At the heart of the Plan is The Board of Peace, the most impressive and consequential Board ever assembled, which will be established as a new international organization and transitional governing administration.”

“Our effort will bring together a distinguished group of nations ready to shoulder the noble responsibility of building lasting peace, an honour reserved for those prepared to lead by example,” Mr Trump wrote, adding that the Board will be convened in the near future.

“As Chaiman of the Board, I formally invite Hungary to join as a Founding Member State, and become a party to the Charter of The Board of Peace, as represented by you,” the letter reads.

“This Board will be one of a kind,” Mr Trump wrote. According to the letter, each Member State may designate an authorised representative to attend and participate in meetings on its behalf. The President also enclosed his 20-point roadmap and the Charter of The Board of Peace with his letter.

“I look forward to working with you, long into the future, towards the goal of establishing lasting world peace, prosperity, and greatness for all,” the US President wrote in conclusion.

“If Trump, then peace. Another letter has arrived. Hungary’s efforts for peace are being recognised. President Trump has invited Hungary to join the work of The Board of Peace as a founding member. We have, of course, accepted this honourable invitation,” the Prime Minister wrote in his Facebook post.
