In his post, Mr Orbán wrote: “Yesterday, we had a long day. We travelled from Moscow straight to Nyíregyháza. There is a new situation. While the Brusselites are busy sawing off the branch they’re sitting on, in the past few days, we have successfully capitalised on our relations consistently built and preserved over many years in the interests of two main objectives.”
He said, on the one hand, we have obtained exemption from measures that pose a threat to the day-to-day functioning of Hungary. “We managed to achieve that three weeks ago when we agreed with President Trump in Washington that Hungary would receive exemption from the US sanctions imposed on the Russian energy sector. We saw in Serbia what’s happening there where these sanctions are now entering into force,” he added.
He said the second task is to continue to provide energy for Hungarian families and businesses at an affordable price. “Yesterday, we managed to negotiate this in Moscow,” Mr Orbán wrote.
