Mr Orbán wrote: “We introduced the legal border closure ten years ago.” In Brussels, “they kept banging on the table and threatening us,” in western capitals, we were stigmatised, but we Hungarians persevered, closed the southern border and laid down that only those may set foot on Hungarian soil that we give permission to.”
According to the Prime Minister, in the past ten years, in Berlin, Stockholm, Vienna and Paris, “public security has gone to rack and ruin,” “migrant gangs” terrorise the people, while bombings, terror incidents involving cars and murders have become daily occurrences.
“In London the other day hundreds of thousands protested against migration. The British have had enough. They want to take their country back,” he pointed out.
In continuation he wrote that meanwhile, Hungary has become one of Europe’s safest countries. “We can never be satisfied, but facts are facts: crimes against life and property are at an all-time low. The number of illegal migrants is zero,” he wrote.
He highlighted that there was one place where nothing had changed: Brussels. The Brussels bureaucrats still insist on wanting to manage migration, instead of stopping it. Those who refuse to toe the line are blackmailed and punished; Hungary has been handed down a fine of one million euros, per day.
He stressed that there were also Hungarian parties that would give in to blackmail. Tisza and DK [Democratic Coalition] would fulfil Brussels’ demand and would accept the migration pact. They openly admit this, and in their opinion, it is possible to comply with the Brussels migration pact, even if by doing so, they would ruin Hungary.
“We believe that for that very reason it’s impossible. You cannot because the country is not for sale, the future is not expendable, and the Hungarian people’s security cannot be the subject-matter of bargaining. The Hungarian government continues to resist in Brussels and will preserve a migrant-free Hungary,” Mr Orbán wrote.
