Prime Minister Viktor Orbán consulted with President of Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania on the telephone

On Saturday afternoon, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán consulted with President of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania Hunor Kelemen. The Prime Minister rendered an account of this on his Facebook page.

“I made it clear that we don’t in any way wish to influence the outcome of the presidential election in Romania from Hungary,” Mr Orbán wrote.

He added at the same time that the Hungarian government regarded the position of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania as the guideline; on issues of nation policy, the interests of the Hungarians of Transylvania dictate.

“Together with the leaders of Romania of the day, we are working to improve the lives of the Hungarians in Transylvania and to promote their survival,” Mr Orbán’s post reads.
