Slovakia is an important ally and strategic partner for Hungary; we are ready to work together

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán congratulated Slovakia’s new prime minister Lajos Ódor, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

“Slovakia is an important ally and strategic partner for Hungary. I’m happy that in recent years – despite the pandemic, the economic crisis and the challenges brought on by the war – our countries have been able to effectively cooperate in a number of areas,” Mr Orbán wrote.

In his message, he reassured his Slovak counterpart that he is ready to work together in the interest of developing cooperation based on mutual respect, Mr Havasi reported, adding that in another message the Hungarian Prime Minister thanked departing Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger for his constructive cooperation in the past few years.

“I am convinced that a strong alliance guaranteeing our region’s success and connecting together the nations of Central Europe is of especially great significance now when Europe is compelled to face challenges on an historic scale. My government continues to remain committed to developing the traditionally strong Hungarian-Slovak bond as well as to strengthening cooperation among the Visegrád Four,” Mr Orbán wrote.
