We will keep on the agenda the Hungarian proposal that the EU initiate a Europe-Russia summit within the shortest possible time

Hungary welcomes the steps taken at the Trump-Putin meeting, and supports further negotiations, with special regard to a second Trump-Putin summit, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote on his Facebook account. “We will keep on the agenda the Hungarian proposal that the EU initiate a Europe-Russia summit within the shortest possible time.”

The leaders of the European Union’s 27 Member States held a video conference today, the Prime Minister wrote, adding that “it has been proved that the threat of World War III can only be mitigated with a Trump-Putin meeting. It has been proved that there is no solution to the Russo-Ukrainian war on the frontline, only diplomatic efforts can bring about a solution. It has been proved that Ukraine’s European Union membership doesn’t amount to any security guarantee, and therefore, it is unnecessary and dangerous to tie membership and the security guarantees together.”
