We will continue what we started, what we pledged we have accomplish, and this will be so in the next four years as well, Prime Minister-President of Fidesz Viktor Orbán said on Monday in Budapest, at the presentation of the national election list of Fidesz-KDNP [Christian Democratic People’s Party].
“We are fifty-five days before the elections, and I believe that we know everything that we need to know for the 12 April decision. Everything is straightforward, clear and transparent,” the Prime Minister stated at the leadership meeting of his party.
We know what we want, he said in continuation. “I summed it up in my state of the nation address: we want five million Hungarians to have jobs; we want an average wage of a million forints; we want every young worker to have a chance to own a home; we want to fully introduce the tax exemption of mothers, and we also want to fully introduce the fourteenth monthly pension by the end of the term, the term ahead,” he added.
He also said they likewise know what the opponent wants. At the weekend, they concluded a secret pact with the Brussels elite in Munich which was pulled off by Germany in Germany. They will surrender the Hungarian veto right in Brussels, they will take part in providing financial support for Ukraine, and they will also support Ukraine’s European Union membership, he pointed out.
“We are the pro-peace forces, we oppose war, we don’t allow our money to be taken to Ukraine, we will prevent young Hungarians from being taken to Ukraine, and we are the ones who guarantee independence and sovereignty for the Hungarian people. Meaning that we are the safe choice,” he stated.
“Our opponents are the ones who would execute Brussels’ orders. They’re the ones who supported the migration pact, would let migrants in and turn Hungary into an immigrant country as this is what Brussels demands. They’re the ones who would give the Hungarians’ money to Ukraine; they’re the ones who would allow Ukraine into the European Union and would thereby drag us into the war,” he stressed.
In continuation, he said “And they’re the ones who were sent from Shell to attack the reduction of household energy bills and to detach Hungary from Russian gas and oil. They’re the ones who were sent from Erste to take back the bankers’ money which we took away from them and from their friends tarred with the same brush and gave to the people.”
The Prime Minister took stock of the friends of Fidesz-KDNP and the opposition’s friends.
“Our friends are the members of the international peace camp, led by the United States. Their friends are the leaders of European pro-war countries, led by the German chancellor,” he laid down.
He added that at the weekend the German chancellor had openly admitted in Munich that his government supported the Tisza Party in the April elections because the opposition party would surrender Hungary’s veto right which “is essential for full German rule in Europe today.”
In continuation, he observed: They also laid down that the war must be continued until Russia was exhausted.
Mr Orbán said this is an illusion, nothing supports this theory. They believe, he said, that the Russians’ reserves significantly exceed those of Ukraine, even with Europe’s full support.
What the Germans and the Europeans together with them are doing today is quite simply “tempting providence,” and in politics tempting providence is enormous irresponsibility, he pointed out.
“Who would believe that the Russians would become exhausted before Ukraine? A mere fantasy, illusion and irresponsibility,” he stressed.
The party president described the political community of Fidesz-KDNP as determined, positive and cheerful, strong and optimistic. They radiate determination.
“[The opposition’s] supporters are driven by a lust for revenge, and are fuelling resentment. In fact, not only are they fuelling, but they are spreading, radiating it,” he pointed out, adding that they are just showing their true colours: unsatisfied ambitions, an insatiable lust for power, anger and displeasure with everyone who loves their country and is not prepared to hand over “the keys to Hungary’s gates and coffers to Brussels.”
He added: this is why they go so far as to gather together known criminals into hordes and set them loose on Fidesz rallies. They are not driven by the desire to improve things; they are driven by hatred.
According to Mr Orbán, on the Internet they “pounce” on everyone who shares a different view and who refuses to swear allegiance to them.
The Prime Minister said it is easy to place people so worked up in the service of big capital, Shell and Erste, despite the fact that they will be, they would be the very first victims of “the oil and bank barons deployed here.”
“Let’s admit it, we wouldn’t mind if they experienced just once what it’s like when they’re pocketed by the very same people they helped into power. But however edifying this would be, we cannot allow this to happen because the majority of Hungary, sober, hard-working people, peaceful families wouldn’t deserve this, meaning that Hungary deserves much better than this, much better than them,” he stressed.
He said they will win in the elections because they have excellent candidates. “Here is the full team. Those who are on the list are all excellent, strong and efficient individuals,” he said, observing that he will be “content” with everyone converting their mandates.
“We will win in a wide alliance,” pointing out that a large and comprehensive alliance has come into being behind the patriotic government in the past sixteen years.
“Our list features pensioners and young people, workers, farmers and professors, we have the Roma here, we have businesses here, we have the supporters of Fidesz and the Christian Democratic People’s Party, we have Lakitelek here, the small holders, people from Budapest and the countryside,” he laid down.
“We will have a group in Parliament which will be able to represent the whole nation, and will be able to provide firm support for and even serve as a colleague of the patriotic government,” Mr Orbán highlighted.
Beyond suitability, there were also political conditions attached to being included on the government parties’ list, he stated.
“The first one is that we must say no to the plundering of the Hungarians. We must take the resulting conflicts on. While we are guided by the principle of uniting the interests of the nation, this cannot lead to international big capital taking Hungary over. No Shell, no Erste!” he pointed out.
The second pre-condition was that their candidates would not consent to the creation of a Brussels empire as the veto can only be taken away through the amendment of the Treaties of the Union which is also subject to ratification by the Hungarian Parliament, the Prime Minister said, adding that their prospective Members of Parliament had to agree to never supporting the Brussels position on this issue, to not consenting to the creation of such an empire, and to protecting Hungarian sovereignty.
The third political condition was that their candidates will have to say no to Ukraine’s EU accession because the final decision – if it comes to that at all – on Ukraine’s EU accession will have to be ratified by the Hungarian Parliament. This is not possible without the Hungarian Parliament’s decision, he stressed.
“Therefore, we expect our candidates – in fact, we agreed with them that should things take such a turn, they will say no to Ukraine’s EU accession as the people have already decided on this in the Vote2025 vote,” Mr Orbán pointed out.
“The fourth political pre-condition we set for our candidates for Member of Parliament is that they must say no to war,” the Prime Minister highlighted. He observed: “We know that the Europeans have decided to go to war between 2026 and 2030, […] but Hungary must stay out of this because on this issue, too, it’s not the government, but the Hungarian Parliament – meaning Members of Parliament – that has the authority to decide.”
Only such candidates may feature on Fidesz’s list who decide in such a situation that Hungary must stay out of the war, the Prime Minister pointed out.
From tomorrow there is no pardon, no excuses, no stopping, the President of Fidesz said, observing that there are fifty-five days left; “we haven’t been idle so far either, not one of us has lazed around.”
“Tomorrow we’ll set out and march headlong into the 12 April victory,” Mr Orbán said, concluding his speech.
