Viktor Orbán on official visit in Qatar

Budapest, Sunday, 21 May 2023 (MTI) – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán travelled to Doha on Sunday morning for an official visit initiated by the Prime Minister of Qatar, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s Chief Press Officer told the national news agency MTI. Upon an invitation by the Emir of Qatar, Mr. Orbán will deliver a speech at the host country’s Economic Forum.

The Prime Minister’s delegation includes Finance Minister Mihály Varga and Economic Development Minister Márton Nagy.

According to the Chief Press Officer, the agenda of the negotiations in Qatar includes stronger bilateral cooperation in the areas of energy, economy and finance, the identification of new investment opportunities, and current issues in global politics.

The delegation aims to improve Hungary’s energy supply and promote the peaceful, diplomatic conclusion of the war in Ukraine instead of forcing a harmful policy of sanctions and war, Mr. Havasi added.
