Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Turkmen President about energy security issues

On Sunday morning in the Carmelite Monastery, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received Turkmen head of state Serdar Berdimuhamedow who came to Hungary on a working visit, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

The meeting is of paramount importance from the respect of Hungary’s energy security as negotiations are currently under way with Turkmenistan with respect to an agreement on energy cooperation, an important element of which is Hungary becoming one of the target countries of future Turkmen gas exports.

At the meeting, the parties established that there were as yet unexplored opportunities in our bilateral relations, including cooperation in the fields of health care, the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, the food industry, water management, education and culture.

The President of Turkmenistan congratulated the Hungarian people on Hungary’s national holiday and wished them all the very best.
