In a press statement made at the summit of the countries of the European Union and the Western Balkans, the Prime Minister said a seal must be affixed to the work completed in the past six months. He said every Western Balkans country has taken a step forward; there are some which have taken strides with seven-league boots.
“There is no country that hasn’t benefited from our efforts, and if I also include the Schengen Area, this is a half-year ending with tremendous success,” Mr Orbán pointed out, adding that now all we must do is affix the seal to it and say ‘this has been great joy, the Work of Men.’
Regarding the state of the Hungarian economy, the Prime Minister said we compare ourselves with 2010.
He said they always compare the pre-2010 performance with the present state of affairs, “and what we see is that this is a completely different country, a much more modern country, and this makes us happy.” In answer to the question of whether he thinks the economy is fine, he said “it’s never fine, the economy is a bicycle that must be constantly pedalled, or else it will fall.” In answer to a question related to the Ukrainian gas pipeline and what the Hungarian government is planning to do, the Prime Minister said they are working on it.
