Péter Szijjártó’s phone was tapped with the knowledge and in the interest of the Tisza Party

In Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s view, it appears obvious that Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó’s telephone was tapped with the knowledge and in the interest of the Tisza Party.

In a video posted on Facebook on Monday, Mr Orbán said it is serious that the telephone of a sovereign country’s foreign minister is tapped “with the intervention” of another country’s authorities and secret services, using journalists or, he observed, at least one for sure.

“However, what’s the most serious about the incident is that it appears obvious that all this happened with the knowledge and in the interest of the Tisza Party. There is a limit to everything,” he said.

On Monday morning, Mr Orbán shared an article entitled ‘Péter Szijjártó’s phone has been tapped by foreign secret services with the aid of a Hungarian journalist; links lead to [Tisza politician] Anita Orbán’ published on Mandiner, and said he has instructed the Justice Minister to investigate the incident.
