Orbán-Borissov talks about cancellation of Bulgarian punitive tariff on gas transit

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks on the telephone with former Bulgarian Prime Minister-President of the GERB party Boyko Borissov, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

During the talks, Mr Borissov confirmed that an inter-party agreement had been reached regarding the fact that Bulgaria would meet the firm Hungarian request and would cancel the punitive tariff on gas transit which posed a serious threat to Hungary’s gas security.

Mr Orbán and Mr Borissov also discussed the issue of Bulgaria’s Schengen accession which is – according to the former Bulgarian prime minister – key for their country. Mr Borissov informed the Hungarian Prime Minister that Bulgaria had met all conditions of accession to the Schengen Area.
