Informal summit of Organisation of Turkic States to be held in Budapest 

The Informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States will be held in Budapest on 20-21 May, the Communications Division of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI. 

At the invitation of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the summit to be held in the Castle Carden Bazaar will be attended by President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, and Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev.

The purpose of the informal summit is for Hungary to strengthen its mediator role between East and West and for representatives of the Member States to determine the organization’s future strategic direction.

It highlights Hungary’s growing role in the organization that this is the first time in the history of the Organization of Turkic States that an observer state will host a summit.
