The further spread of foot-and-mouth disease must be prevented, and so all livestock farmers must follow the instructions of the authorities, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán appealed to livestock farmers in a video posted on his Facebook account on Monday. 

In the video, Mr Orbán checked in from the vicinity of the livestock farm near Kisbajcs in Győr-Moson-Sopron County where the virus of foot-and-mouth disease was identified. 

He said the task in hand is to destroy the livestock in question, to localise the disease, and to prevent its further spread. 

The Prime Minister indicated that all experts necessary for the purpose were available as were the required financial resources, while Minister of Agriculture István Nagy – who himself is from Győr-Moson-Sopron County – supervised and controlled the defence effort on site. 

Mr Orbán asked everyone to observe the notices of the authorities.
