After having had talks with French President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, leader of the French National Rally Marine Le Pen and former President of the Republic Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris, Mr Orbán told the reporter that he expected France to continue to remain present in Hungary as a major investor.
He added that all three presidents – the former president, the incumbent president and the future president – agreed on one thing, namely that they did not want a United States of Europe.
“France is France, everyone here is a patriot. Hungary is Hungary, and effectively everyone is a patriot, with the exception of the left-wing opposition. So, there will be agreement also in the future that we don’t want to turn Brussels into a superstate, and don’t want to subordinate our own independence and sovereignty to anyone, including Brussels,” Mr Orbán said.
