Facebook statement by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán

This is how Ukrainian cyberscammers do it. Get one of these [shows a message on his phone], click here, and your cash is gone. We’re preparing for tomorrow’s government meeting. There will be a lot of economic issues on the table: a profit margin freeze, the Demján Plan for small businesses, and we’ll also focus on a very damaging phenomenon. In recent times there’s been a marked increase in bank fraud and hacker attacks – including cyber-fraud with a Ukrainian background. All it takes is one wrong click and the family savings are gone. Every year fraudsters are cheating Hungarian families out of 8 billion forints. We’ve recently dismantled a network of nineteen people linked to Ukrainian organised crime, and I believe that we need to intensify our efforts. At tomorrow’s cabinet meeting we’ll decide on new instruments. We’ll use these to tackle bank hacking scams linked to Ukrainian crime rings.
