“Viktor Orbán, speaking from Budapest. Prime Minister, good morning! Robert, how are you?” A few minutes ago, I spoke on the phone with Robert Fico, the Prime Minister of Slovakia. It’s not only Hungary that’s under an oil blockade, but Slovakia too. The Druzhba oil pipeline is being blocked by Zelenskyy and Ukraine. This is dangerous not only for Hungary, but also for Slovakia. Zelenskyy and his associates claim that there are technical obstacles to restarting the oil pipeline. To the best of Slovakia and Hungary’s knowledge, this isn’t true: there are no technical obstacles, and the pipeline has been shut down solely for political reasons. Therefore I’ve agreed with Robert Fico that we’ll set up a joint investigative committee, whose task will be to go to the site and see the reality with their own eyes. I therefore call on President Zelenskyy to allow this committee of inquiry to enter the country, and to provide it with the conditions needed to carry out its work.
