Facebook statement by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán after a meeting of the Government’s Defence Council

The meeting of the Defence Council, which I convened due to the Ukrainian oil blockade, has just ended. No oil has arrived in Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline since 27 January. The data clearly shows that this unprecedented shutdown is not due to technical reasons, but instead political ones, with the Ukrainian government using this oil blockade to put pressure on Hungary and Slovakia. I have listened to the reports from the national security services, and I can see that Ukraine is preparing further actions to disrupt the functioning of the Hungarian energy system. I have therefore ordered a strengthening of defences related to critical energy infrastructure. This means that in the vicinity of key energy facilities we will deploy soldiers and equipment needed to repel attacks. Police reinforcements will patrol the areas around designated power plants, distribution substations and control centres. I have also ordered a ban on drone flights in Szabolcs–Szatmár–Bereg County. Hungary cannot be blackmailed!
