Szilveszter Szarvas: President Babiš has returned. How much has this strengthened the Patriots’ biceps, and what does his presence mean to you personally?
Until now, the Patriots have only increased strength in their biceps through adding to their number, because when we formed the party, we joined forces to combine our strengths. Now for the first time we’ve gained a new position. So this is a great, splendid moment in the history of the Patriots, because for the first time there’s been an election in Europe in which a party belonging to the Patriots has not simply improved its position, but has won, and will provide the Prime Minister. Until now I was the only prime minister within the Patriots group, but now the Czechs have joined us, and the Patriots have two prime ministers at the European Council meeting. This is a huge achievement and a good indication of the direction for the future. National parties are growing stronger everywhere, while liberal, globalist parties are weakening; this is a general phenomenon in the Western world. We’re in a period of transition: that era is over, and now the era of nations is coming. I can’t say how long the transition will take, but the process is moving forward, as Prime Minister Babiš’s victory shows.
