It’s time for Brussels to stand up not only for Ukrainian power, but also for the Ukrainian people and the Hungarians of Transcarpathia

It’s time for Brussels to stand up not only for Ukrainian power, but also for the Ukrainian people and the Hungarians of Transcarpathia, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated in a video posted on Facebook on Tuesday, after the Hungarian government initiated in Brussels the addition with immediate effect to the European Union’s Human Rights Sanctions Regime List of those who are responsible for the death of József Sebestyén.

The Prime Minister said the images that prove that our compatriot József Sebestyén was beaten to death by people calling themselves recruiters have travelled around and shocked the whole of the Carpathian Basin.

“Nothing gives any state the right to resort to the kind of brutality with which Ukraine treated József Sebestyén. His fate clearly demonstrates the state of affairs that prevails in Ukraine, the illegality controlled by the state and a complete lack of legal security,” Mr Orbán stated.

The Prime Minister stressed that the incident had exposed the hymns of praise sung by the Brussels machinery about Zelenskyy, and had proved why Ukraine could not be a member of the European Union.

“József Sebestyén was not only a Ukrainian, but also a Hungarian national, and as such, a citizen of the European Union. Today, the Hungarian government initiated in Brussels the addition with immediate effect to the European Union’s Human Rights Sanctions Regime List of the Ukrainian leaders who are responsible for the death of Hungarian citizen József Sebestyén,” Mr Orbán said, adding that the EU has applied this practice on several occasions in the case of other countries.

It’s time for Brussels to stand up not only for Ukrainian power, but also for the Ukrainian people and the Hungarians of Transcarpathia, Mr Orbán said, concluding his video.
