In his message posted on Facebook, Mr Orbán wrote: We must face the fact that transatlantic unity has become sharply divided. Never before had there been such a gap between the pro-peace forces led by President Trump and the Brussels and Kiev leaders insisting on the continuation of the war, he added.
The Prime Minister stressed that Hungary must remain on the side on peace, even if this would result in the intensification of its disputes with Brussels. Mr Orbán pointed out that we must prepare for the protraction of the war, including all its security and economic implications.
“We must prepare for attacks against Hungary with double the intensity as before as Hungary is President Trump’s ally, and Hungary wants peace, not the continuation of the war. We must prepare for the possibility that the secret service operations, the smear campaigns and the pro-war propaganda campaigns launched against Hungary will continue with increased intensity,” he wrote.
The Prime Minister announced that he had therefore convened a meeting of the Defence Council for Monday afternoon. “We will prepare and defend Hungary as well as Hungarian families,” Mr Orbán’s post reads.
