Dániel Bohár: What have you encountered during your visit to Paris?
First of all, Franco–Hungarian relations are in good shape. Historically speaking, this has not always been true. Today we have extremely close cooperation with France – not only on political issues, but also on economic issues. I also expect France to continue to be a major investor in Hungary. On the other hand, all three people – the former president, the current president and the prospective president – agree on one point: they don’t want a United States of Europe. So France is France. Everyone here is patriotic. Hungary is Hungary, and essentially in Hungary, also, everyone is patriotic – apart from the left-wing opposition. So there will continue to be agreement that we don’t want to turn Brussels into a superstate, and we don’t want to subordinate our own independence and sovereignty to anyone, including Brussels.
