The Prime Minister said there is plenty to talk about. Since the end of the autumn session of Parliament, “the world has turned upside down,” and for once not to our detriment, but to our benefit, he said.
Mr Orbán recalled that the new US president had taken office in mid-January, and had already changed the western world.
“Until now, the wind had always been against us; now a tailwind is blowing,” the Prime Minister stated.
Mr Orbán said in the past 15 years we had been compelled to put the Hungarian economy in order – to increase wages, to give people jobs, to protect the pension system and to introduce the 13th monthly pension – in a headwind.
“The international environment was against us in every respect,” he pointed out.
He added that this had changed now, “all of a sudden, about everything we were previously told was bad we now learnt that it was good,” and as far as its essence was concerned, the new US policy coincided with the Hungarian government’s policy.
Mr Orbán stressed that this was a radically new situation. As a result, they have succeeded in launching the worker loan, have raised the minimum wage, and have launched a 21-point economic action plan, including the Demján Sándor Programme supporting small businesses.
However, as there are big changes and we are facing even bigger changes during the period ahead, we should consider launching new programmes. We must think big and brave, the Prime Minister said.
At the end of the video, Mr Orbán said at the parliamentary group meeting to be held in the countryside, he will primarily want to talk about these new programmes, and will seek to gain the support of members of the parliamentary group for them.
