Saturday morning, the ninth day of the defence operations, Budapest. The water is coming downriver with terrifying force, and will peak at around 2 pm. I’ve fully surveyed the defence structures, we’ve checked the defences. I’ve listened to the reports on locations from Margaret Island down to Budafok, and there aren’t really any more critical sections. The water will be 50–60 centimetres below the 2013 level. People are out on the flood barriers, and the defence operations are continuing in an organised manner. Everyone is calm, composed, and doing their work in an orderly manner. We will win this battle today. Budapest will do it!
