Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with President of Congo

On Saturday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

At the meeting, the parties reviewed opportunities for the further development of Hungarian-Congolese economic relations. Several Hungarian companies already have business interests in the African country, but it is well worth promoting further investments, the parties agreed at the meeting.

Mr Orbán highlighted that as part of the Hungary Helps Programme (HHP), since 2018 Hungary has provided Congo with aid and grants worth USD 2.4 million in total within the framework of 14 projects, primarily for health care, educational, social and food purposes. Congo is the third most subsidised African state among the HHP partner countries, Mr Havasi recalled.
