In the Prime Minister’s opinion, the independence of the central bank is sacred and inviolable, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief said, responding to statements made by Governor of the Hungarian National Bank György Matolcsy on Thursday.
The Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister told the Hungarian news agency MTI that the government had not yet debated the proposed legislative amendment related to the powers of the supervisory board of the central bank.
