One of the most important investments in the history of the Hungarian economy is coming to Hungary; the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturing company, the Chinese BYD is building its first European car manufacturing plant in Szeged, Mr Havasi recalled. Thanks to the investment worth several billion euros which will also bring to Hungary a new generation of technology, thousands of jobs will come into being, while local suppliers will also profit from BYD’s presence.
At the meeting, Mr Orbán said it is the intention of the government that rather than a mere economic policy development being implemented in Szeged, the people living there should also have first-hand experience of its positive impacts in their day-to-day lives. To this end, infrastructure developments worth billions of forints will start, including the road network, elements of the local infrastructure and communal services.
The parties highlighted that Hungary has for years been the number one Eastern and Central European investment destination for China. In the past decade, Hungary has created a predictable and stable system of relations with China based on the foundations of mutual respect, and year after year significant records are broken in our economic and trade cooperation.
