Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Bulgarian head of state

On Thursday in the Carmelite Monastery, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Bulgarian President of the Republic Rumen Radev about the European political situation and energy issues, Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

Mr Orbán stressed that Bulgaria’s role is becoming ever more important for us, given that as a transit country it furthers Hungary’s energy security, and has in this proven to be an excellent partner.

At the meeting, the parties spoke about the prospect for the EU accession of the Western Balkans countries as well as about the importance of a ceasefire and peace talks in the context of the war in Ukraine, the press chief reported.

As part of the visit of the Bulgarian head of state, the parties signed a declaration of intent regarding the strengthening of cooperation between Bulgargaz and MVM CEEnergy as well as their subsidiaries in the Central and Eastern European and Southeast European regions. It is based on this that the parties will coordinate and discuss any agreements related to the procurement of liquefied gas as well as to the conveyance and sale of natural gas.
