Pope Francis’ apostolic visitation to Hungary

In Sándor Palace, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had a one-to-one, private meeting with Pope Francis who has come to Hungary on a three-day apostolic visitation, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

At the meeting, Mr Orbán recalled that our Fundamental Law itself lays down that in Hungary, Christianity has a role in preserving nationhood.

Without Christianity there would be no Hungary today, he pointed out, adding that Hungary has a future if it remains on the Christian path, and today the Christian path is the path of peace.
