What is at stake in the elections is whether the people will be able to make it clear that they want peace, not war

On Thursday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán campaigned in Salgótarján, and later in Jászapáti, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

In Salgótarján, the President of Fidesz had talks with candidate for mayor Bálint Kreicsi; later, meeting with local electors, he spoke about the fact that there is a war in Europe, in its eastern corner, and this war is coming ever closer to us. Not in such a way that the frontline is coming here, but instead “we’re going there” as European leaders want to take part in this war which we Hungarians are not prepared to do. What is at stake in the elections is whether European countries and the European people will be able to make it clear to their leaders that they want peace, not war, the Prime Minister stressed. He added that these elections were not about 21 Hungarian mandates, not even about the Fidesz-KDNP alliance. These elections are about war and peace, and the vote of every resident of Salgótarján, every Hungarian and every European counts, Mr Orbán said.

On Thursday, the Prime Minister also paid a visit to Jászapáti where he encouraged members of the electorate to support Fidesz candidate for mayor János Pócs, Mr Havasi reported.
