We will take the necessary steps in order to guarantee Hungary’s peace and security

The escalation of the Iran-Israel war also has an impact on Hungary. We will take the necessary steps in order to guarantee Hungary’s peace and security, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote on his Facebook account after the meeting of the Defence Council on Sunday evening.

In a video added to the post, Mr Orbán said he convened a meeting of the Defence Council because the Iran-Israeli war entered a new phase last night with the US bombings.

While this conflict is geographically far away from us, it conveys three threats to us nonetheless, we must face three threats. First of all, the threat of terrorism, the Prime Minister pointed out. Mr Orbán stressed that we had defended ourselves against migration. As a result, we are not an immigrant country, and so now, we will also be able to defend ourselves successfully against the threat of terrorism.

“We must keep an eye on the pressure of migration; after each conflict in the Middle East, the pressure on our southern borders intensifies, the Interior Minister will have to keep an eye on this, I instructed him to do so today,” the Prime Minister stated.

Mr Orbán said we must also face the threat of a further rise in the prices of energy carriers. “This is a serious threat, and so at this point in time, we must remove the proposed regulations relating to the ban on Russian energy from the agenda in Brussels. The negative impact of the Iran-Israel war on the prices of energy carriers is a big enough problem as it is,” the Prime Minister said.
