In one of the video recordings enclosed under the post, Member of the European Parliament for the Tisza Party Zoltán Tarr says that “we should not and, in fact, need not necessarily maintain the same system that we have had so far, and this is also true of the pension system.”
In another video, pension expert András Simonovits says that “the pension system is overly generous,” starting pensions “should be reduced on a relative basis.” “The highest pensions should be subject to, say, a 10 to 20 per cent tax. We could think in terms of medium-term reforms, but the details should not be divulged before the elections, we must win the elections first,” he added.
“You can’t say that the thirteenth monthly pension is directly connected to the performance of work,” economist Mária Zita Petschnig stated in the recordings linked to the post.
“The Left took the thirteenth monthly pension away – we gave it back. This time, if they enter into power, they’re preparing for a brutal reduction of pensions – we will not allow this to happen. As long as I’m here, the elderly can feel safe,” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote in his post.
