Mr Orbán said due to the Ukrainian oil blockade and the war in the Middle East, the price of crude oil has started skyrocketing in Hungary as well. In this situation, the Ukrainian oil blockade introduced by Zelenskyy is posing the gravest possible threat to not only Hungary and Slovakia, but to the whole of the European Union, he stressed.
In continuation, Mr Orbán said we will need two decisions to avert the threat: in the whole of Europe, we must review and suspend all sanctions imposed on Russian energy. “On Monday, I initiated this with President of the Commission Ursula von der Leyen in a letter,” he added.
“At the same time, here at home, we must prevent the prices of diesel and petrol from rising to an unbearable level. To this end, I have convened an extraordinary cabinet meeting for early this afternoon. I will be in touch again after the meeting,” the Prime Minister said.
