Tisza would detach Hungary from cheap Russian energy

The cat has been let out of the bag. Tisza’s new economic policy expert announced on his first day on the job that he would detach Hungary from cheap Russian energy, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote on Facebook on Tuesday morning.

“Now we know what he has been sent for: to implement the plans devised in Brussels,” the Prime Minister wrote.

In his post, Mr Orbán recalled that ever since the outbreak of the war, we have fought hard in order for Hungary not to be detached from Russian energy carriers. This is not a matter of taste or inclination. We are doing this because this is Hungary’s cheapest and most important energy source.

“If there is no Russian gas, there is no reduction of household energy bills. If there is no Russian oil, the price of petrol immediately skyrockets. You can talk all you like about mysterious technical solutions, but these are the facts on the ground,” the Prime Minister laid down.

Mr Orbán added: facts which the latest captain of the ship ignores. “It seems that the Brussels itinerary is more important …” the Prime Minister wrote, concluding his post.
