Strategic cabinet meeting in Sopron has begun

On Monday morning, a three-day cabinet meeting headed by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán began in the Sopronbánfalva monastery; the first topic was the earthquake that hit Turkey in the early hours of the morning, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

At the beginning of the meeting, members of the cabinet reviewed the possible forms of assistance that Hungary could provide for Turkey in the wake of the earthquake. To this end, the government will contact the Turkish authorities within the shortest possible time, Mr Havasi reported.

He added that the main topics of the strategic cabinet meeting lasting until Wednesday included the Brussels policy of sanctions and how to protect Hungary from its harmful effects such as the inflation caused by the sanctions and high energy prices.
