Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with World Athletics (WA) President

On Saturday morning in the Carmelite Monastery, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received Sebastian Coe who was re-elected as President of World Athletics (WA) for another four years at the organisation’s congress held on Thursday in Budapest, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

Mr Coe spoke in words of praise about the new Budapest stadium hosting the World Athletics Championships that will start on Saturday. In his view, the facility has turned out wonderfully. The sports executive said the Hungarian organising committee has done an excellent job, and all the conditions are in place for a good world championship.

According to Mr Orbán, the World Athletics Championships are very important for Hungary and Budapest also economically. The event brings money to the country, but what is even more important is that it is drawing the world’s attention to the Hungarian people. The Prime Minister, too, thanked the organisers and volunteers for their hard work.
