Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with EU single market rapporteur 

On Wednesday in the Carmelite Monastery, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received former Italian prime minister Enrico Letta with whom he also spoke about the plans of the upcoming Hungarian EU presidency, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI. 

The Italian politician is currently working on a strategic report concerned with a review and the further development of the European Union’s single market which he will present to EU decision-makers later this month. 

Therefore, at Mr Letta’s meeting with Prime Minister Orbán, the most important topics included the restoration of the European economy’s competitiveness and the inclusion of new areas in the single market, including defence policy. The parties further spoke about the EU’s enlargement strategy and the programme of the Hungarian EU presidency due in the second half of the year, Mr Havasi reported.
