The Prime Minister said Monday’s powerful and wide-ranging storm caused major disruptions in public services in three areas.
One area is transport, but this was promptly handled by Minister János Lázár already Monday evening and night, he announced.
He added that another affected area was the system of water supply, this was connected to power supply, while the third area was power supply itself.
There were difficult moments last night; at one point, as many as 366,723 consumers were without electricity, he recalled, warning that this meant far more people.
There was an accident on the Ócsa-Soroksár line in which more than ten traverses fell.
There were problems in Baja, Kecskemét, Szeged, and also in the wider regions of the Mátra and Bükk, but here experts worked all night, and power supply has been restored in most places, the Prime Minister summarised.
Regarding the present situation, he said some 50,000 to 60,000 households are now without electricity. “I met with the people who are working on the restoration of services. They’re committed people, they worked all night. The operation of the system is in good hands, they will repair the malfunctions,” Mr Orbán stressed.
