Facebook post by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán following a meeting of the European Council

The meeting of the European Council of prime ministers ended today at 3 a.m. The reason it went on for so long is that we needed to discuss the issue of migration. Pressure is mounting and is now becoming unbearable, even for Western countries. We couldn’t delay any longer: we needed to face up to the situation, making it clear that Europe is in great danger, and that urgent action is needed. The Member States agreed on this. The question now is whether the Brussels bureaucrats sitting on the Commission also understand the need to act immediately. For example, legal proceedings against Hungary must be suspended or withdrawn, and Member States – including Hungary – must be supported in building fences and strengthening their border defences. The future of Europe depends on this.
