Mr Orbán said the cabinet meeting was attended by President of the Hargita County Council Barna Botond Bíró which was made necessary by the fact that the flooding in Szeklerland caused the most significant damage outside the catchment area of the Parajd (Praid) salt mine, mainly in Háromszék.
“As a result, we must also help Háromszék,” he said, adding that at its Wednesday meeting, the cabinet decided to provide assistance for Szeklerland in cooperation with the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania. They will conduct the relevant talks with the President of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania on Thursday.
The Prime Minister highlighted that at this time, speed was of the essence. He thanked the public service media for having organised, in collaboration with Hungarian Interchurch Aid, a fundraiser for the Day of National Unity with a view to helping Szeklerland.
Mr Orbán added that the government had decided to double the funds raised, meaning that the government would add one more forint to each forint donated. “Not a single Hungarian is on their own,” the Prime Minister said, concluding his video post.
