Tax increase has again set off ripples at Tisza

“Tax increase has again set off ripples at Tisza. The Tisza tax is a never-ending story. Here is chapter three: now, the problem of Tisza is that the government is spending too much on supporting Hungarian businesses,” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán posted on his Facebook account on Tuesday.

Mr Orbán wrote: “This is what we learnt from the leaked university lecture of the latest Tisza economic guru. (The previous guru found himself deposed after having leaked their plans about progressive taxation. Over there, in their circles, gurus are down on their luck these days.)”

“So, this is what we know about the Tisza tax so far: progressive taxation with multiple increased brackets, a raised corporation tax, cancellation of the family tax benefits and cutting the grants of Hungarian businesses. We know all this, of course, because they’ve been exposed,” the Prime Minister wrote.

“No problem, we put our cards on the table. We’re launching a national consultation where everyone can state their opinion on the issue of taxation. Except the Brusselites. We don’t consult them because all their plans are leaked by Tisza anyway,” Mr Orbán wrote.
