Hungarian-US talks will have tangible results within six months 

Hungarian-US talks will have tangible results within six months, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a video posted on his Facebook account on Saturday. 

The Prime Minister posted an extract on his social media account from the interview he gave the journalist András Hont on the YouTube channel of the programme ‘Five’ which was released on Thursday evening. In this, regarding the tariff war, Mr Orbán said “this is the kind of thing that we know the beginning of, and I believe we also know the end of. What happens in-between is not important,” he added. 

The Prime Minister stressed that US President Donald Trump would seek to renegotiate the tariff rules with each country with which the United States had a deficit in order to improve the country’s positions compared with current ones. This will be the end of it, he added. 

Mr Orbán said “as far as we are concerned, we are negotiating with the Americans about economic issues which will provide us with an advantage.” “The tariffs will be a disadvantage, but we’re negotiating about other economic agreements, issues that could compensate for this,” the Prime Minister said.
