Villages must be upgraded, not downgraded

Villages must be upgraded, not downgraded, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated in a video posted on his Facebook account on Wednesday, rendering an account of the government’s programmes supporting small settlements.

Mr Orbán said at the Wednesday cabinet meeting almost everything was about villages.

“In our view, villages are not the past, but the future, and therefore, 2025 will be a year of breakthrough also in villages,” he said.

According to his information, they decided “to support small shops with 3 million forints per shop, to bail out small village pubs likewise to the tune of 3 million forints; all settlements with fewer than 2,000 residents can apply. We’re taking at least one ATM to every village, and we will also announce a church refurbishment programme for small settlements.”

“Villages must be upgraded, not downgraded, this is what we worked on today,” the Prime Minister said, adding that they will render an account of details of the decisions at Thursday’s Governmentinfo press conference.
