Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is having talks in Turkey about peace, a ceasefire and bilateral cooperation

Talks in Ankara between Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Turkish head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan have begun, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI from the scene.

The meeting is taking place in the Turkish presidential palace and began with a discussion which is also being attended by the two countries’ foreign ministers, Péter Szijjártó and Hakan Fidan. The main topic of the talks is the chance of peace in Ukraine and the Middle East which – in addition to the opportunities available for the development of bilateral relations – will later also be discussed by members of the Hungarian and Turkish delegations at a working lunch, Mr Havasi reported. He recalled that the closing event of the Hungarian-Turkish cultural year would take place this evening in Ankara. During the one year of the series of events, more than 150 programmes have been organised in the two countries.
