I like it when cultures meet and play with each other

I like it when cultures meet and play with each other in a single sport, according to the same rules, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated, talking to Qatari journalists on Tuesday.

In the context of the football World Cup held in Qatar, the Hungarian Prime Minister said he was trying to follow the matches from home, but, he observed, this was sometimes difficult as he had to work during the day, and so he only had time to do so late at night.

He highlighted that the Qatar football World Cup was not only spectacular, but also exciting. At the same time, Mr Orbán said he very much appreciated the organisation of the event and the fact that Qatar had decided to spend money on hosting the entire world.

He additionally said it was important that the football World Cup was being held in an Arabic country. Regarding the phrase ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do’ he said it is very good that an Arabic country is hosting the world which must therefore respect local customs and mentality.

He said this was important not only for football, but also from the viewpoint of understanding different views of life.
